Triple triumph for MR Solutions with third Queen’s Award win for Innovation in pre-clinical imaging technology
MR Solutions, of Guildford has achieved a third Queen’s Award. This follows their win in 2016 with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise (Innovation), while in 2017 the company was recognised for their excellent performance in International Trade. MR Solutions is a world leader in preclinical imaging solutions involving MRI, PET, SPECT, and CT.

Organized by the CGFL within the IMAPPI, Pharmimage, Pharmaco-imaging consortiums and MR Solutions, the workshop has been designed to be highly interactive with demonstrations of the new 7T integrated PET/MR system of MR Solutions. Three roundtables will be organized in order to present topics such as PET/MR imaging in the field of preclinical oncology, neurology, cardiovascular diseases and multimodal probes design. It will be also the opportunity to launch the MR Solutions users group.

MR Solutions’ new 9.4 tesla cryogen free preclinical scanners created great interest from cardiologists at the 20th Annual Scientific Sessions of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR). MR Solutions, the Surrey-based preclinical imaging company, received royal approval when attending a reception at Buckingham Palace to receive the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise (Innovation). This was achieved in recognition of their development of the world’s first commercial range of cryogen-free preclinical MRI scanners, which do not require liquid helium cooling, and the commercial success which has followed.

MR Solutions is now offering a choice of two cryogen-free preclinical scanner ranges – the Flexiscan and Powerscan. The Flexiscan range is available with multi-modality accessories which can be mixed and matched according to research requirements. It is a flexible MRI system as it can incorporate integrated multi-modality options such as PET or SPECT. The Flexiscan system requires no specialist knowledge and can be operated simply by running pre-defined settings. There is no need to materially alter the parameters of the machine.

Manchester University has chosen MR Solutions’ 3T MRI preclinical, cryogen free imaging solution for superior soft tissue contrast and molecular imaging research at the Wolfson Molecular Imaging Centre. The scanner will be used in their Regenerative Medicine research programme which aims to develop a clearer understanding of the potential risks and hazards of therapies and to develop new methodologies to assess their risk. The aim of this research is to gain faster access to new medicines for patients.

A clinical MRI scanner can be transformed into an effective preclinical system using a simple to fit conversion kit from MR Solutions of Guildford, Surrey. The transformation, which can be undertaken in around ten minutes, involves sliding in a carrier system linked to a separate state of the art EVO spectrometer providing superior soft tissue contrast and molecular imaging capabilities. MR Solutions has demonstrated its worldwide presence in the preclinical MRI imaging sector at the 2014 World Molecular Imaging Congress (WMIC) in Seoul, Korea in September 2014. Being shown for the first time was MR Solutions new in vivo optical imaging technology, the MRS CellLIVE system that can examine the interior of a sedated animal down to cellular level at up to 1000 times magnification. This system, including scientific analysis software, facilitates optical microscopy of small animal subjects for preclinical research without having to carry out a dissection.
