Software Engineer

Job Title:   Software Engineer

Reports to:   Software Director

We are looking for an experienced software engineer to join our team at MR Solutions.

MR Solutions is a highly successful and innovative UK developer and manufacturer of pre-clinical MR imaging equipment for medical research. Products include cryogen-free MR imaging systems ranging from 3 Tesla to 9.4 Tesla which can also be accessorized with PET and CT imaging technologies. Recent growth and success has seen the company awarded three ’Queens Awards’ for its innovation and performance. Our products include:

  • The world’s first range of commercial, ultra compact, cryogen free, 3T to 9.4T superconducting magnet MRI scanners for use in pre-clinical and material research laboratories with superior soft tissue contrast and high spatial resolution
  • The first truly simultaneous, cryogen free, MR/PET scanner
  • The CT and PET/CT scanners with detachable PET for flexible multimodal imaging
  • EVO spectrometer, the heart of an MRI scanner, which converts the radio waves into pictures with customisable software control systems with an unparalleled range of capabilities for producing different types of images. Used either to upgrade an existing MRI unit or for manufacturers of MRI scanners.

MR Solutions’ systems rely heavily on software at all stages from embedded code to user interface/data management.

The successful candidates will have a good degree either in Computer Science or similar, or a degree with a greater scientific or engineering content with hands-on experience of software design and development. Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK. Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer visa sponsorships.

This position is open now and will focus on developing and supporting our pre-clinical software user interface with the emphasis on the MRI application development. The following skills are considered relevant for this job:

Essential:

  • Development and testing using C++, STL
  • GUI development
  • Good maths skills
  • MS Visual Studio – 2017 or later

 Desired:

  • C++ 14-17
  • QT
  • Engineering or physics degree
  • Medical imaging experience (MRI, PET, CT, SPECT)
  • MySQL
  • MFC

Senior Systems Engineer (UK)

Job Title:   Senior Systems Engineer

Reports to:   Technical Director

Due to the company’s continued Global expansion in the delivery of our World leading Pre-clinical  Benchtop MRI, PET, SPECT and CT imaging   systems, the following vacancy,  based  in our  facility at Abingdon, Oxfordshire, has been created.

Main Duties:

  • To be a “Working Manager”
  • Driving the Engineering team in the continued drive for the highest possible quality in all of the company’s products.
  • Review engineering processes, procedures, and documentation, improving them if necessary, to ensure projects are completed in a timely and quality manner.
  • Using skills and experience to get “hands on” with certain projects and assist team members with their projects.
  • Review system and sub-system BOM’s with their team to seek out improved performance / more cost-effective alternative components.

Skills and experience / Essential –

  • A proven, experienced (minimum of two years), team leader, with the drive to seek and achieve continual improvement from their team, in an engineering  industrial environment.
  • Qualified in Electronics Engineering to degree level or Master’s level.
  •  Disciplined in the documentation of design decisions and their implementation.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Self-planning and organisational skills, such as time and resource allocation
  • Prepared to travel occasionally, within the UK and abroad.

Desirable-

  • Any experience with, or a good understanding of how, MRI, PET or CT systems work.

MRI Applications Scientist (UK)

Job Title: MRI Applications Scientist

Main Duties

  • Working within a team, on the development of new sequences and protocol for MRI, PET/MRI and SPECT/MRI.
  • MR application support to customers, sales, service and application team
  • Develop and provide formal sequence programming training sessions remotely or on site to customers.
  • Produce up-to-date manuals and training materials

Skills and experience / Essential

  • A background in MRI
  • A higher degree in Physics, Chemistry or the biological sciences
  • Experience in writing and trouble-shooting MRI pulse sequences
  • Experience in programming in one or more of ‘C++’, Python and MatLab
  • Experience in MRI application data processing and analysis
  • Experience in running MRI experiments on one or more MRI platforms
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbally
  • Self-planning and organisational skills, such as time and resource allocation
  • Develop and provide formal training sessions on site to customers.
  • Work directly with the team to produce up-to-date manuals and training materials.
  • As needed, provide support to the customers and to applications team when troubleshooting application/system type issues.
  • Create personalized presentations based on knowledge gained about the customer
  • Prepared to travel occasionally, within the UK and abroad.

Radiation Physicist / Nuclear Medicine Physicist (UK)

Job Title:   Radiation Physicist / Nuclear Medicine Physicist

Main Duties

Working individually and within a  team, on the development, production, and customer support of a range of Pre-clinical CT and SPECT systems, that complement and enhance the company’s MRI system product range.

Skills and experience / Essential

  • Higher degree in Physics or Engineering
  • Experience with algorithm development
  • Experience in programming with Python, MatLab or similar languages
  • Experience working with ionising radiation and radiation detectors
  • Knowledge of PET/SPECT/CT imaging and reconstruction methods
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbally
  • Self-planning and organisational skills, such as time and resource allocation
  • Prepared to travel occasionally, within the UK and abroad.

Desirable –

  • Direct experience of imaging with CT, SPECT or PET systems
  • Experience of simulating physical problems using Monte Carlo software such as GATE/GEANT, etc
  • Direct experience of preclinical imaging
  • Knowledge or experience of MRI

Sales manager - West Coast - USA

Responsible for all sales and prospection activities of MR Solutions pre-clinical imaging solutions : MRI, PET, SPECT and CT. The position will be addressing, but not limited to, the Academic, Pharmaceutical, Biosciences and Petrochemical research markets.

Candidates must be an assertive sales professional, highly motivated, experienced, organized and possessing the drive and desire to aggressively manage all sales activities in the designated territory. They will be driven by exceeding annual sales targets, building strong relationships within the molecular imaging research community, encouraging and enabling innovation adoption, in a dynamic market. The sales manager for North America will directly report to the Sales and Marketing Director of MR Solutions.

  • Meet or exceed territory sales targets for all products and assigned business objectives within the territory.
  • Prospect strategically identified markets and territories, both remotely and by travelling.
  • Recognize market trends and gain competitive intelligence within territory
  • Develop tactical sales plan to maximize revenues.
  • Generate sales leads and product interest at international exhibitions and tradeshows.
  • Follow up on leads from both a commercial and technical perspective, with the support of the applications and engineering teams.
  • Organize site visits, with support from applications team and Physicists when necessary, to qualify leads and ensure sales visibility nationwide.
  • Participate in reference site and onsite customer visits as needed as part of tender processes.
  • Negotiate contracts, execute pricing strategy to maintain existing & develop new business.
  • Conduct technical presentations of MR Solutions products, demonstrating the company technology in a professional and enthusiastic manner.
  • Create strong relationships with prospects throughout sales cycles

Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years of successful sales experience in the Life Science Capital Equipment market
  • Minimum B.S. in Life Sciences (biology, molecular biology preferred)
  • Experience in capital equipment sales
  • Strong communication, presentation, analytical and customer service skills, complimented by an aggressive and solutions-oriented track record in sales.
  • Experience in responding to RFPs and tenders is desirable.
  • Highly effective time and self-management and prioritization skills
  • Team player with ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Willingness to spend up to 50% of time travelling away from your base office.
  • Fluent in English
