MR Solutions wins Surrey Business Award – another one to add to the collection
MR Solutions, of Guildford, has won the ‘Waytime Technologies Business of the Year’ award, adding another win to their 2016 awards collection. This latest win is one of the Surrey Business Awards in which businesses based in Surrey compete to win sought after business accolades. MR Solutions achieved this for their innovative preclinical MRI imaging technology and sound business acumen.
In July 2016, Nicky Doughty, director and Ben Withinshaw, finance director, of MR Solutions attended a winners’ reception to collect the Queens’ Award for Enterprise (Innovation) at Buckingham Palace. This was hosted by Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh. In November, MR Solutions was on a winning streak with a win at the US-based R&D 100 Awards. The 54th annual awards which were held in Washington, recognise the 100 most innovative technologies and services during the year. MR Solutions was chosen as a winner in the Analytical/Test category by a panel of over 50 judges representing many of the industry’s leading research and development companies as well as national laboratories.
Further awards swiftly followed in November 2016. An Innovation Award was presented to David Taylor, CEO, at MR Solutions, at the Made in the South East Awards evening held at the Hilton Hotel Gatwick. These prestigious awards are open to manufacturing companies across the south east of the UK with the finalists automatically shortlisted for the national Made in the UK 2017 awards. Then came the SME Surrey Business Awards win, whereby local businesses from across Surrey attended an awards ceremony at Epsom Racecourse. Nicky Doughty attended with Peter Doughty, MR Solution’s Technical Director to collect their award.
David Taylor said: “It is a great honour to receive these prestigious awards along with the recognition which goes with them. My team has worked hard to develop a compact preclinical, cryogen-free MRI imaging system which offers state of the art imaging at a smaller capital outlay than previous technology.”
MR Solutions is the only company in the world to offer a range of commercially available preclinical MRI imaging scanners from 3T to 9.4T (T is for Tesla the power of the magnet) which does not require the bulky liquid helium cooling jacket and all the safety infrastructure that goes with it. MR Solutions’ scanners, which are the size of a desk, can be wheeled into a lab compared to the helium cooled models which usually need their own room and substantial building modifications.
Researchers, primarily from universities and research laboratories across the world use MRI or magnetic research imaging for an extensive range of applications in medical, food, industrial and commercial research.
